Location: Fort Smith, AR (15 minutes from Van Buren, AR)
Schedule: Full-Time | 37.5 hours/week
Contract Dates: 2025–2026 School Year
Setting: Onsite Only
Caseload: 1:1 support for a middle school student
Pay: $38+/hour (based on experience)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to join a supportive school team in Fort Smith for the 2025–2026 school year. This is a full-time, in-person role working 1:1 with a middle school student, providing interpretation services in classroom and educational settings to ensure full access to instruction and activities.

Responsibilities:

• Provide interpretation of spoken English into sign language and vice versa for a middle school student

• Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers

• Support classroom access and engagement across all subject areas

• Collaborate with educational staff to promote inclusive learning environments

Qualifications:

• Valid Arkansas Special Education – Visual Specialist K-12 License

• Experience in educational interpreting preferred

• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and ASL

• Committed to student advocacy and accessibility
