Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) Position

Blazer Jobs is actively seeking an experienced Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a full-time, school-based contract position in Las Vegas, NM for the current school year and extended school year. We are currently conducting interviews for qualified professionals who meet all local and state certification requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a school setting, you will:

• Assist the licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in delivering therapy services to students with developmental, sensory, and physical challenges.

• Implement therapy intervention plans created by the OT to improve students’ fine motor skills, coordination, and ability to perform daily tasks.

• Provide individual and group therapy sessions to support students in accessing their learning environment.

• Monitor and document student progress, making recommendations to the OT for treatment modifications as needed.

• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families to develop strategies that enhance student success.

• Assist in modifying classroom tools and environments to accommodate student needs.

• Ensure compliance with state and federal special education guidelines while delivering therapy services.

Qualifications:

• Must meet New Mexico state licensure and certification requirements for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants.

• Experience working with special education students and families is highly preferred.

• Strong communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills to work effectively within a school-based team.
